Nominations opens on Monday, June 26, 2017 and will conclude Wednesday, August 16, 2017.Voting begins on Wednesday, August 30th and conclude on Wednesday, September 20, 2017.

The Louisville Convention & Visitors Bureau Annual Luncheon and Recognition of Service Excellence Awards will be held on Friday, October 13, 2017 at the Louisville Marriott Downtown at noon.

What is a ROSE Award?

The Recognition of Service Excellence (“ROSE”) Award honors employees in the tourism and hospitality industry who positively enhance a visitor’s experience during their stay in the Louisville area. The Awards cover several categories, and are presented to employees who distinguish themselves through enthusiasm and exemplary service. We encourage you to nominate a special individual for a 2016 ROSE Award.

Who Is Eligible?

Non-managerial employees in the hotel, restaurant, retail, tourism or hospitality-related fields, including the public sector are eligible to be nominated for a ROSE Award. Employees should have direct contact with, or provide support to, visitors and customers, and distinguish themselves by promoting Louisville and surrounding areas through exemplary service and customer satisfaction.

Criteria for Awards:

  • Nominations may be submitted by management personnel or a member of the general public. The person nominated must be employed in a non-managerial position and hold no ownership in the organization. No past winners are eligible; however, past nominees are eligible.
  • The Nomination Testimonial must be at least a 100-word description containing a specific example of why this hospitality employee is outstanding in their job performance. The candidate must project a positive image of their company and of Louisville as a destination. A limit of two (2) individuals from an organization can be submitted for consideration.
  • All nominations must be received by Wednesday, August 16 at midnight.

Award Recipients

A Nomination Committee comprised of hospitality and business professionals will confidentially review all nominations and select up to six (6) finalists in each of the six (6) main award categories which include: Accommodations, Dining, Behind the Scenes, Volunteer, Attractions & Transportation.

Awards Ceremony

Finalists will be recognized at the 27th Annual Luncheon and ROSE Awards on Friday, October 28, 2016. All finalists will receive two (2) complimentary tickets to the Awards Gala. Family, friends, and co-workers are invited to purchase additional tickets or corporate tables to attend the event and support their nominee.

Selections are made by the Louisville Convention & Visitors Bureau Nomination Committee, who evaluate the number of votes the candidate received from the general public as well as the Nomination Testimonial submitted on their behalf. Dining

      • Server, Fine Dining Restaurant
        Candidates from a la carte full service food restaurants, including bar service staff.
      • Server, Casual Dining
        Candidates from a la carte full service food restaurants, including bar service staff
      • Server, Banquet/Catering
        Candidates serving banquet meal functions in hotels, free-standing restaurants, or off-premise catering.
      • Bartender
        Candidates from hotels, free-standing restaurants or off-premise catering.
      • Host/Hostess
        Seaters and greeters from casinos, hotels or free-standing restaurants.

Attractions

      • Tour Guides & Hosts
        Candidates from attractions who offer tours, informational talks to visitors.
      • Retail Sales Associate
        Guest Services/Concierge
        Candidates in concierge and concierge-related positions.
      • Visitor Information Service Personnel
        Candidates from guest contact positions at attractions, parks, recreation facilities or guest relations and information desks and airport Ambassadors.
      • Candidates from retail stores directly serving the customer.
      • Reservationist
        Candidates from direct contact positions within a hotel or restaurant; i.e., front desk and reservations personnel.
      • Security Personnel
        Candidates from security positions, including emergency medical technicians, within a hotel or attraction who directly interface with guests.

Accommodations

      • Valet or Bell/Door Person
        Candidates in door positions, valet or bell person at a restaurant, hotel or casino.
      • Cashier
        Candidates from restaurants, hotels, attractions and transportation authorities, includes hotel cashiers, food and beverage cashiers, parking cashiers & valet cashiers.
      • Reservationist
        Candidates from direct contact positions within a hotel or restaurant; i.e., front desk and reservations personnel.
      • Retail Sales Associate
        Candidates from retail stores directly serving the customer.
      • Guest Services/Concierge
        Candidates in concierge and concierge-related positions.
      • Visitor Information Service Personnel
        Candidates from guest contact positions at attractions, parks, recreation facilities or guest relations and information desks and airport Ambassadors.

Behind the Scenes

      • Food Production Personnel
        Candidates from free-standing restaurants, hotels or casinos that directly cook, maintain food safety standards and support kitchen food production personnel (line cooks, pastry cooks, pantry workers), or food attendants who service compliment food/beverage operations.
      • Food and Beverage Support
        Food service personnel including dishwashers, bus persons, bar porters and banquet set-up who assist wait staff in hotels, casinos or free-standing restaurants.
      • Room Attendant/Housekeeper
        Candidates who clean guest rooms in hotels.
      • Back of the House Personnel
        Candidates from hotels or free-standing restaurants who directly support front-line customer contact personnel. Positions include administrative personnel, hotel operators, maintenance, janitors, and laundry personnel.
      • Security Personnel
        Candidates from security positions, including emergency medical technicians, within a hotel or attraction who directly interface with guests.
      • Retail Sales Associate
        Candidates from retail stores directly serving the customer.

Transportation

      • Transportation
        Candidates who drive taxis, buses, limousines & shuttle Louisville visitors & guests.
      • Cashier
        Candidates from restaurants, hotels, attractions and transportation authorities, includes hotel cashiers, food and beverage cashiers, parking cashiers & valet cashiers.
      • Reservationist
        Candidates from direct contact positions within a hotel or restaurant; i.e., front desk and reservations personnel.
      • Retail Sales Associate
        Candidates from retail stores directly serving the customer.

Volunteer

      • Guest Services/Concierge
        Candidates in concierge and concierge-related positions.
      • Visitor Information Service Personnel
        Candidates from guest contact positions at attractions, parks, recreation facilities or guest relations and information desks and airport Ambassadors.

An overall winner will be selected from all ROSE Award finalists from one of the six categories ((Accommodations, Dining, Attractions, Behind the Scenes, Transportation and Volunteer) to receive the Spirit of Hospitality Award from the Greater Louisville Hotel & Lodging Association.
